What changes for your BD team

Less admin. More selling. Every visit tied back to gross profit.

Salesforce Sales Cloud, Maps, Enablement, and Agentforce give your business development managers verified field activity, one account view, and less admin, so more of the week goes to selling and the results connect to the gross profit they are measured on.

01

Verified activity

  • Visits can't be verified
  • No proven ramp formula

Geofenced check-ins confirm visits as they happen, so the numbers line up with what is happening in the field. Route planning and territory balancing build a realistic plan from day one, and Programs let you test targets, such as how many calls or visits a week, against real results.

02

One account view

  • Deals tracked by contact
  • Unclear last touch

One company record holds every account, role, and touch: the last touch, the next steps, and the tasks. Everyone sees the whole buying committee, so it is harder for a prospect to go untouched or a follow-up to slip.

03

More selling time

  • Activity not tied to gross profit
  • Reliance on data entry

Talk, don't type: record an on-site meeting and get a transcript, a summary, and suggested next steps with Agentforce. Dashboards then connect that activity to rolling 12-month gross profit by BDM.

    How the numbers are built

The calculator follows the structure of the Salesforce business value assessment reviewed on October 28. Five drivers are modeled separately and added together.

    1. Increase Revenue per BDM. BDMs × share with room to improve × annual revenue per BDM × revenue lift × gross margin.
    2. Increase Win Rate. BDMs × qualified opportunities per BDM × average deal size × current win rate × win-rate lift × gross margin.
    3. Reduce New BDM Onboarding Time. Weeks to onboard × reduction = weeks gained, × weekly sales per BDM (annual revenue ÷ 52) × new BDMs hired per year × gross margin.
    4. Increase BDM Productivity. BDMs × share of time on non-selling work × fully loaded cost × share of that time recovered.
    5. Increase Sales Team Efficiency. BDMs × share of time on planning, activity reporting, and commissions × fully loaded cost × share of that time recovered.

The first three count only the gross margin on added revenue. The last two are time savings valued at fully loaded cost, so no margin is applied to them.

Each driver is an annual amount at full ramp. Benefits phase in at 30% in Year 1, 70% in Year 2, and 100% from Year 3 to allow for change management, and you can edit the ramp. Costs are licensing, implementation, and ongoing support and maintenance. Net benefit is benefit minus cost, and ROI is cumulative net benefit divided by cumulative cost.

The payback month shown on this page is an estimate. It assumes each year’s costs are paid up front and benefits arrive evenly through the year. The pricing-review deck defines payback as the first month in which cumulative monthly benefit exceeds cumulative monthly cost, and shows it as under 12 months.
